How to SetUp Netscape 4.5 for E-mail
for Pioneer Internet Users

While in  Netscape, click on Edit, Preferences. You should see the following dialog box. If there is a + next to Mail and Newsgroups, click on the +. Click on Identity. Fill in Your Name, Email Address and Organization.

Next click on Mail Servers in the left pane, and you should see the following dialogue box:

In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server field enter mail.pld.com . Leave the Outgoing mail server user name blank.

Look in the Incoming Mail Servers field towards the top. You should see the word mail.pld.com. Highlight the word and click the edit button. You should see the following dialog box:

The Server Name should read mail.pld.com. Server Type is POP3 Server. Username is your pld logon name.

If you put a checkmark next to Remember password, you will be prompted for a password once, then not again. If you put a check mark next to Check for mail every # minutes, when Netscape is open it will check for new mail every # minutes. Click on OK to close.

Your email is now setup.

Click on Newsgroups in the left pane, and you should see the following dialogue box:

You can have Netscape Messenger play a sound, if your PC is sound capable, when a new message arrives. Otherwise down towards the lower right corner of the Netscape window you will see:

You have received mail when there is a green down pointing arrow next to the circled icon.
