Internet Explorer Configurations for Pioneer Internet Users
Configuring the Macintosh
Remote Access Control Panel
-
Remote Access consists of two separate
components, the Modem control panel and the Remote Access control panel.
Both will be correctly installed by the MacOS installer (MacOS 8.5 or
later).
-
In the TCP/IP control panel select
PPP as your Connect Via: option. Then click on the
Options button and ensure that Open Transport is active.
|
 The
TCP/IP Control Panel |
-
Next, open the Remote Access control
panel in the control panels folder. In the Number: field, enter the local
phone number of your nearest
Pioneer Internet local access number.
|

The Remote Access Control Panel |
-
Enter your personal details (username
and password) in the Setup section, and select the Registered User
radio button. Whether or not you ask Remote Access to remember your
password upon the closure of this panel is optional (by selecting the
Save password checkbox), but being prompted for your password each
time you wish to make a connection is a worthwhile security measure.
-
Using the auto-login feature
Selecting the Options... button
at the bottom of the PPP control panel will take you to the Options
dialogue window.
-
The options provided via the
Redialing and Connection tabs are self explanatory, so we'll
concentrate on the Protocol window, and specifically the
Connect to a command-line host: option.
|

The Remote Access Options Window |
-
Adding phone numbers to Remote
Access Now that you know how to
establish a connection to Pioneer's server, how do you configure Remote
Access for another Pioneer phone number? First open the Remote Access
control panel open, go up to the File pulldown menu and select
Configurations.
|

The Remote Access Configurations Window |
-
Select Duplicate...
an existing configuration, and Rename... the copy. The name you
call each configuration is completely optional, however a practical naming
scheme would be to use the phone number of Pioneer.
-
To alter details such as the actual
phone number, click on the Make Active button. This will change
the settings of the Remote Access Control Panel to the desired
configuration. You will be returned to the Remote Access Control Panel,
where you can now alter the telephone number shown in the area marked
Number:. Closing the window will produce a prompt to save the new
configuration.
